These items can be purchased from a home improvement or hardware store, but anticipate local shortages after a major disaster.

• Clothesline or nylon rope
• Cordless drill and charger
• Emergency lighting
• Extension cords (heavy duty)
• Fans and/or dehumidifier(s)
• Flashlights and batteries
• Garden hose with adjustable spray attachment
• Hygrometer
• Plastic clips or clothespins
• Pumps
• Scrub brushes, mops, buckets
• Tables, sawhorses
• Walkie talkie
• Wet/dry vacuum cleaner

Supplies

• Garbage bags
• Plywood
• Polyethylene sheeting
• Rags, paper towels
• Screws
• Tape (duct)
• Tarps

Protective Gear (“PPE” Personal Protective Equipment”):

• Boots (rubber, or leather safety-toed)
• Gloves (disposable latex, nitrile, rubber, and leather)
• Hard hat
• NIOSH-approved respiratory mask
• NIOSH compliant respirator (for lead)
• Overalls (disposable)
• Plastic aprons
• Splash-proof goggles

First Aid and Rest Station

• Drinking water (1 gallon/person/day)
• Plastic cups, plates, utensils
• First aid kit
• Eyewash kit
• Sanitary supplies:
  • Antimicrobial soap
  • Alcohol handwash
  • Disposable wipes
