Disaster Insurance

Neither a business insurance policy nor a homeowners’ insurance policy provide protection against earthquake or flood (defined as rising water − as opposed to water coming in from above, like a leaky roof). And in some disaster and hurricane-prone areas, typical insurance policies do not cover wind damage.

Be sure you understand what is, and what is not covered by your insurance, and consider purchasing additional coverage offered through your insurance carrier or the federal government for these additional risks.
